This accessible bathroom renovation in Kitchener, Ontario gave Coreen a safer, easier-to-use bathroom with a low-threshold glass walk-in shower, an adjustable handheld shower, a wall-mounted teak bench, and grab bars. Germano Creative paired those features with Victorian Mauve walls, a white quartz-topped vanity, dark grey floor tile, and sparkling accents for a polished, distinctive look.
The original three-piece bathroom had a bathtub with a tub surround, and Coreen needed a bathroom that was easier and safer to use. She wanted a walk-in shower with a low entry, a place to sit, and support where she needed it, along with a design that had more personality than a standard neutral bathroom. Because those features had to be anchored securely, the walls needed to be planned and reinforced before any tile went in.
Germano Creative replaced the tub with a 60-inch walk-in shower with a low-threshold base, glass shower doors, and an adjustable handheld shower on a slide bar. Wall blocking was installed in advance so the grab bars, slide bar, and wall-mounted teak corner bench could be anchored securely. A white vanity and glossy white shower tile kept the room bright, while Victorian Mauve walls added warmth, dark grey floor tile added definition, and a sparkling glass accent border added a touch of personality.
The low-threshold walk-in shower with sliding glass doors makes getting in and out easier, and the clear glass keeps the bathroom feeling open. An adjustable handheld shower on a slide bar can be set at the right height for sitting or standing, while a wall-mounted teak bench and two grab bars add comfortable seating and extra stability. Glossy white subway tile keeps the shower bright, and the dark glass accent border’s sparkle echoes the
crystal-style vanity light. Matte dark grey porcelain floor tile grounds the space, and black hardware and wall hooks pick up its dark tone against the white vanity and over-the-toilet storage cabinet. Victorian Mauve walls add warmth, the oval mirror softens the room’s rectangular lines, and an LED shower pot light keeps the shower well lit.
The finished accessible bathroom is easier and safer to use every day, with a low-threshold walk-in shower, a wall-mounted teak bench, and grab bars where support is needed. Victorian Mauve walls, dark grey floors, glossy white tile, and sparkling accents give the space more personality than a standard neutral bathroom.
