Germano Creative reimagined the outdated, closed-off kitchen into a bright, open space. The scope included removing a dividing wall to open up the layout, addressing a compromised load-bearing wall discovered during demolition, and rebuilding the kitchen from the studs out. The homeowner wanted more prep and storage space, built around a new peninsula for casual gathering.
The existing kitchen was closed off and lacked adequate prep and storage space, with a dated layout that didn’t suit how the family actually used the room. Partway through demolition, our team discovered a load-bearing wall that had been compromised by previous renovation work, adding an unplanned structural component to the project. The homeowner wanted a brighter, more open kitchen built around a peninsula for both cooking and casual gathering.
Germano Creative brought in a structural engineer to assess and safely address the compromised load-bearing wall before continuing the renovation. The dividing wall was removed and reframed to create a dedicated fridge and pantry alcove, opening up the kitchen around a new peninsula. The space was rebuilt from the studs out with new plumbing, electrical, insulation, drywall, and finishes throughout.
The contrast between the dark cabinetry and bright stone surfaces creates a timeless, upscale aesthetic that feels both bold and inviting. The waterfall quartz countertop serves as the room’s focal point, extending seamlessly from the peninsula into the cabinetry, while a marble backsplash adds subtle texture without overpowering the space. LED under-cabinet and pot lighting keep the prep area well lit, and reworking the layout made room for a
dedicated fridge and pantry alcove.
The completed renovation transformed this kitchen into a bright, open gathering space built around a peninsula for both prep and casual seating. Quartz countertops, porcelain floor tile, and a marble backsplash bring together a mix of premium finishes, all framed by custom cabinetry for an elegant, elevated feel.
